With its 210 beds, the German Heart Centre Munich is an internationally renowned, full-service hospital offering specialised medical treatment to state-of-the-art standards. Our patients receive the very finest nursing and medical care based on close collaboration between our departments of cardiovascular surgery, cardiovascular disease, paediatric cardiology and congenital cardiac defects, as well as the hospital's institutes for anaesthesiology, laboratory medicine and radiology including nuclear medicine.
Nursing is a key element of patient care at the German Heart Centre Munich and is based on the very latest scientific insights. Working in seven general wards, three intensive care wards and eight departments, some 500 highly qualified specialists are responsible for meeting the needs of patients across the full age range.
Employee qualifications are as follows: healthcare and nursing specialist, paediatric healthcare and nursing specialist, medical assistant, medical technical assistant, operating room assistant, anaesthesia assistant, technical sterilisation assistant and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Particular importance is attached to the qualified training of nurses and paediatric healthcare specialists at the German Heart Centre Munich, and for this purpose there are cooperations with five vocational training colleges for nursing and paediatric care. Training is also provided for operating room assistants and anaesthesia assistants.

The German Heart Centre Munich implements clinical pathways, guidelines and care standards in the areas of paediatric and adult nursing, intensive care, anaesthesia and surgery as well as in its various departments. Unit care is applied in the wards, while nursing services overall are documented and analysed using a service logging and process documentation system (LEP®).
Nursing Services is supported by a qualified ambulance service, a pick-up/drop-off service and ward assistants.
