Counselling

Heart disease not only requires physical treatment; it also has to be dealt with emotionally. Patients with heart disease often suffer from fear, depression, despair and feelings of helplessness. This is not at all unusual. Due to its central function in the body and its emotional significance, the heart has a special status among the organs of the body. Patients with heart disease are often forced to deal with the subject of death. The hospital stay, the cardiac procedures, the talks with the physicians, nursing staff and relatives make patients realize that they will have to reconsider and rearrange their life plans.

Counselling of heart patients promotes recovery while reducing psychological stress and improving long-term quality of life.
Patients suffering from fear and depression receive support through the cooperation with the Institute of Psychosomatic Medicine, Psychotherapy and Medical Psychology.
