All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of this speciality are available. Considerable emphasis is placed on interventional bronchology. With the aid of a bronchoscope, constrictions or obstructions of the respiratory tract, such as those caused by tumours or scar formation, are treated with various procedures (laser, argon beam, cryotherapy, photodynamics, stent). Autofluorescence diagnosis enables effective early diagnosis of bronchial carcinoma in persons with the corresponding risk profile (smokers). In our department, we are equipped to provide comprehensive treatment for all types of lung disease. This applies in particular to patients with bronchial carcinoma who can avail of multimodal treatment due to the cooperation between the Department of Thoracic Surgery, the 3rd Medical Department (Oncology) and the Department of Radiotherapy of Rechts der Isar Hospital.
